Eligibility Requirements

The Youth EmployAbility Services program is funded by the federal Workforce Investment Act. As of May 2007, the YES program is accepting referrals from youth who have completed their GED; have graduated from high school; or have officially dropped out of high school. We will also receive referrals from youth who are aging out or have aged out of foster care or if they are in the custody of Juvenile Justice Services. These guidelines are dictated by our funding and contractual requirements.

In order to ensure that the program serves those who need it the most, you must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Come from a low-income family.
  • Be between 16 - 21 years of age.
  • If you are in high school, you must be either a junior or senior. If you not in high school, you must have dropped out, or be a recent graduate who is having difficulty succeeding on the job market.
  • You must face significant obstacles to success such as being a parent, having language or cultural barriers, or lacking sufficient life and work skills.
  • You must be willing to work hard and be self-motivated to succeed!
  • You live in Salt Lake County or Tooele County.
  • You must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien (have a “green card”).

If you can answer yes to the requirements above and are interested in the YES program go on to the next page to learn how to apply.
